It was a night that seemed already written in the stars that the female national football team of Nigeria, the Super Falcons will ultimately fulfill it’s nation’s long awaited dream of winning a tenth WAFCON title. The Nigerian women who had nine titles already had fallen short in the last few editions of the premier female soccer tournament on the African continent to win it’s 10th title, were primed for this year’s edition and thus code named it mission X.

Last night in Morocco, the ladies from the most populous country in Africa overcame a very worthy, enterprising, entertaining and hugely tactical home team, Morocco to claim it’s long awaited la Decima. The Moroccan side went 2-0 up in the first half in front of their vociferous crowd and only very few could claim they still believed the falcons would ever fight back, let alone go ahead to win the trophy. But that’s exactly what they did and truly in grand style as the Match ended in favour of Nigeria 3 goals to 2.

With this victory the girls have etched their names in the history book forever. Meanwhile President Bola Tinubu has sent a congratulatory message to the team and informed the girls that he is expecting them back home. They went, they saw, and they conquered – Congratulations Super Falcons of Nigeria, 10 times winners of the Women Africa Cup of Nations.
