All Progressive Congress APC Chieftain Chief Fab.Okere has called the Nigeria Police Imo State Command headed by CP Audu Booso Garba to intensífy speedy trial of the Fulani bandits arrested in Imo as has done to others arrested from other tribes of Nigeria particularly those from Imo State.Okere who is a member Imo Elders Forum said that they have resolved to comment on the selective Justice in the State adding thatthere have been several police operations in Imo targeting suspected criminal groups operating from forests and hideouts. Police usually refer to them as “bandits”, “kidnappers” or “abductors”who were apprehended but didn’t face trial since arrested.”Here’s what has been publicly reported aboutsuspects identified as Fulani bandits arrested in Imo who have not been tried in the Stateadding that Police raided Avu Forest in Owerri West LGA*recovered2 decomposing bodies found in Avu forest whenCP led a tactical team with local hunters to *storm* a hideout in Avu community He said that they were identified with the following Name and State of Origin released by Police which includesMuazu Awuta 30 years, Abdullahi Abubakar 32 yrs, Ozeru Sabo 25 yrs, Saddam Suleiman 27 yrs, Bashir Yahaya 28 yrs.
He stated that all 5 suspects were disclosed as being from Jau LGA of Jigawa State and Items recovered were 2 decomposing bodies, phones, AK-47, wristwatches, 5 motorcycles amongst others. Stressing that others arrested at Avu, Owerri West were Yahaya Samaila 23 and Saminu Abubakar 24, who came from Kware LGA of Sokoto State. Okere revealed that most of these arrests happened in forests in Avu, Owerri West, and communities in Ndegwu, Orogwe, Irete, that raised alarm over abductions. Charged with Kidnapping, and adding that since their arrest they were allegedly not in Police Custody nor in Imo Correctional facility. It could be recalled that Imo Police have also arrested 179 suspects, 789 suspects, and 75 suspected armed bandits in the last 1-2 months, but most of those were linked to , cultism, armed robbery, but not specifically identified as Fulani in the press release. Imo Police Command under CP Audu Garba Bosso says they are carrying out intense operations in forests and black spots to stamp out crime.
