The Nigeria Customs Service ( NSC) Apapa Area Command has made a giant stride towards the boost of Data Driven , seamless operation, modernizing and enhancing excellence at the Porr, the landmark achievement follows the Commissioning of the Bashir Adewale Adeniyi Analytics Centre for Excellence at the Apapa Area Command by the CGC of Nigeria Custom Service Bashir Aderwale Adenyi on Tuesday, 10 March 2026,l According to the CGC the Commissioning of the Analytics Center is significant and emphasizes the growing importance of data in global trade and customs management, noting that credible data remains essential for effective risk management and operational efficiency.” Data is the new currency of international trade, and we value data a lot because it is the backbone of our risk management engine. And we cannot pretend to have a modern customs administration if we do not have credible data to support it and drive the operations.”
The Comptroller General appreciated the efforts and commended the Apapa Area Customs Comptroller, Emmanuel Oshoba, and his team for embarking on the project. He encouraged officers to ensure that intelligence generated from data analysis is effectively translated into operational outcomes. Speaking during the Commissioning ceremony, Comptroller Oshoba said the land mark achievement reflects the Service’s commitment to technology-driven enforcement and improved welfare for officers.“This infrastructure is a direct reflection of the vision of our Comptroller-General to leverage modern technology and analytics to fight smuggling, secure our nation and facilitate legitimate trade,” he pointed out The Customs Comptroller-General later made a facility tour and inspection of the scanning site and assured compliant traders and investors of the commitment of Nigeria Custom Service towards continued trade facilitation and seamless cargo clearance processes.
