Henry Nwosu Ex Super Eagles Captain Dead.

Former Nigerian international and captain of then Green Eagles, Henry Nwosu is dead. His death was confirmed by his former team mate Mr. Olusegun Patrick Odegbami. He reportedly died in early hours of today Saturday the 14th of March 2026 about 4 a.m at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) after he was admitted there on Wednesday. Nwosu has been very ill for a long time.

A former youth international and later member of the senior national football team, he won the African Cup of Nations for the first time for Nigeria at the National Stadium Surulere, Lagos in 1980. Born Henry Onyemanze Nwosu, in 1963 in Imo State, he was a fantastic football player, very talented and an outstanding super star in the midst of other talented footballers of his generation. At his prime he played for teams in Nigeria and other parts of Africa. His death has further depleted the number of players who won the 1980 Nations Cup, quite a number of them have also died. May his soul rest in peace and may God console his family.
