The universal church, the Roman Catholic now have a new Pope. He is Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost and aged 69. He takes the name; Pope Leo XIV. He succeeds Pope Francis who died on Easter Monday, last month April. He is the first American Pope ever to occupy the papacy and is believed to be a reformer who may continue to unite the church and the world in peace and love in todays world that is challenged, almost in all things.
The 133 Cardinals who in the last two days engaged in this spiritual exercise have spoken in unison on this primary task of electing the man after God’s own heart. It is believed also he will lead the universal Church such that the gospel of Jesus Christ will be preached in every nook and crannies of the world. World leaders have continued to react and saying that, Pope Leo XIV is the Child of God who will lead the flocks aright. The billowing of the white smoke from the chimney in the Vatican brought a lot of Joy to thousands who gathered and waited for the historic moment at the vatican.
