Arsenal FC, whose season seemed to have come to an end in terms of title pursuit, following the sad loss to Paris Saint Germain (PSG) in the UEFA Champions League, appear to have begun preparing for next season. Having failed again in a bid to win the English top flight domestic title which they last won 21 year ago, Manager Mikel Arteta is facing serious backlash from fans, some of whom are calling for his sack. However there are indications that the board is keeping faith with Arteta for now as the man to lead them to silverware.
It is this support from the board that has given the manager the confidence to progress with his pre planned upgrade of the team. One the key areas in need of strengthening is the defensive midfield which Thomas Partey has been the clubs main man. But due to age and injury issues, he has not always been available for greater part of the season, hence the need for reinforcement. That is why the club has been pursuing the signing of Spanish international, Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad. Considered by many to be one of the best DM’s in Europe presently, he is being chased by a lot of top European teams.
As per latest reports it appears Arsenal have landed one of their prime targets. Various Spanish news outlets have claimed that Arsenal were in pole position to sign him, but the most authentic piece of confirmation has come from non other than the ever reliable Italian journalist, Fabrizio Romano who earlier today revealed that the gunners have agreed personal terms with Zubimendi, and all that is left is for the Arsenal and Sociedad to reach an agreement and the player will formally be presented to fans as player of the North London outfit. He is the first of four players the club is going for to fill positions thy believe will transform them into champions next season.
