The Comptroller of Seme vArea Command of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) Dr. Ben Oramalugo has declared an increased revenue generation of over N2.8 billion, between January and April 2025 and facilitation of 184,000 metric tonnes of export goods, valued at over N36 billion. CAC, Oramalugo pointed out that the command deplored very effective strategies on anti- smuggling that have resulted in many arrests and seizures with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of over N 800 million during the four months under review According to Comptroller Ben Oramalugo, this strategic development shows the Command’s commitment to excellence and zero tolerance for smuggling.
He said this in his welcome address at the commissioning of the Customs Officers Wives Association (COWA) Office Complex, Senior Officers Mess and Gym House at Seme Area Command , on Monday 19th May, 2025.Dr. Ben Oramalugo Said the renovated Officers’ Mess stands as a symbol of the Customs commitment to improving the welfare and morale of the personnel, by providing more conducive space for relaxation, camaraderie, and professional bonding,The Comptroller emphasized that the new COWA Office Complex represents the Command’s recognition of the invaluable contributions of COWA in supporting the officers, fostering community development and promoting the well-being of families within the Seme Command.
Dr. Ben Oramalugo commended the Comptroller General of Customs, Wale Adeniyi, saying his visionary leadership has been the driving force behind the modernization and transformation of the Nigeria Customs Service.He reiterated that the CGC’s policy thrust, which centeres on collaboration, consolidation and innovation has inspired the Seme Area Command to push boundaries and achieve milestones adding that the projects that were commissioned are a direct reflection of the CGC’ s emphasis on officers’ welfare and operational excellence.Oramalugo therefore advised all officers and Men of the Area Commend to see the newly commissioned facilities as ones that will enhance the Command’s service delivery, adding that the renovated Officers’ Mess should be taken as a place where officers would forge stronger bonds and renew their commitment to the core mandates of the Nigeria Customs Service.According to the CAC the COWA Office Complex should be a beacon of hope, empowering officers’ families and communities as all the officers strive to continue to uphold the values of integrity, professionalism, and discipline in all their endeavors.
He extended the Command’s appreciation to COWA members for their tireless efforts in community engagement, empowerment programs, and support for the officers’ families, which he said have been instrumental in bringing the Command’s office complex to reality .He expressed the view that the newly commissioned facility will further empower COWA to carry out their noble initiatives, while it will serve as a hub for innovation and positive impact in the Command’s border community.CAC Oramalugo expressed his satisfaction with the existing synergy and collaboration of other security agencies, he disclosed that that the cooperation with the sister security agencies will go s long way in facilitation of NCS effective delivery of their mandates
