The unified Customs Management System, B’ODOGWU has yet recorded another milestone achievement in Edo/ Delta Area Customs Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) following the launching of the Unified Customs Management System, codenamed B’odogwu with the processing of its first Single Goods Declaration (SGD).The Edo / Delta Area Command B’0DOGWU launching was held at the Command headquarters on Friday, July 4, 2025 and is expected to position the Command to deliver improved service, foster transparency, and enhance trade facilitation and competitiveness.
The Command spokesperson, Peter Josu, in a press statement pointed out that, “ the milestone declaration — registered as C1 dated June 18, 2025 — was processed for Messrs Ringardas Nigeria Limited. The transaction, involving the clearance of Bitumen 60/70, recorded a total payment of ₦1,316,774,797.54 (One billion, three hundred and sixteen million, seven hundred and seventy-four thousand, seven hundred and ninety-seven naira, fifty-four kobo), demonstrating the seamless functionality of the new digital platform.”The Customs Area Controller, Comptroller J. Kanu while addressing officers during the launch, commended the officers alongside technical partners, freight forwarders, and terminal operators, for their commitment to making the system operational.
Comptroller Kanu said the Command now enjoys full integration with commercial banks and relevant government agencies, ensuring smooth Form M validation, efficient duty payments, and real-time data processing — all in line with extant regulations.“We have trained customs officers, bank officials, licensed agents, shipping lines, and other key stakeholders to ensure the complete adoption of this system,” Comptroller Kanu stated.The elated Comptroller described the B’odogwu platform as a game-changer in customs administration, one that aligns with Nigeria’s broader objective of modernizing border management and boosting trade efficiency. The successful launch of B’odogwu marks a significant step in the NCS’s efforts to redefine customs operations and facilitate seamless trade across Nigeria’s ports and borders.
