The Federal Government in an effort to immortalize the memory of Late former President Mohammed Buhari has officially renamed the University of Maiduguri as Muhammadu Buhari University. The announcement was made on Thursday, July 17, during a special Federal Executive Council (FEC) session convened to honour Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away at the age of 82 in a London hospital. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who was very emotional during the FEC session expressed the Federal governments appreciation for the contribution of Buhari to our nascent Democratic.
The solemn FEC session saw officials taking turns to appreciate Late former President Mohammed Buhari for his patriotic contributions to Nigeria’s political and economic development. The renaming of the university underscores the perception of many Nigerians on the need immortalize Mohammed Buhari and also seen as one of the most symbolic movies by the Tinubu administration so far to ensure that late Mohammed Buhari’s name is positioned prominently in Nigeria’s academic and historical records.
