The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi on , 27th July 2025 paid a condolence visit to the State House Press Gallery to honour the memory of the late Dr. Leon Usigbe, Abuja Bureau Chief of the Nigerian Tribune.The atmosphere at the gallery was solemn as grief enveloped everyone. CGC took turn to sign the condolence register opened by the State House Press Corps. CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi described Dr. Usigbe as “a seasoned professional who carried out his duties with rare depth, integrity, and commitment to the ideals of journalism.”The CGC who is renown for his long-time advocacy of media engagement and institutional transparency, was visibly grieve struck during the visit said: “We have lost a giant in the media landscape,” he wrote. “Dr. Usigbe was a journalist of uncommon excellence whose dedication to truth and fairness made him a reference point for many in the profession.”
CGC Adeniyi extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, members of the State House Press Corps, and the Nigerian Tribune Newspaper, urging them to find comfort in the powerful legacy Dr. Usigbe leaves behind.Dr. Usigbe had built a reputation over the years as one of Nigeria’s foremost political correspondents, respected for his incisive commentary and fearless reporting on national policy and governance.
