President Tinubu Extends the tenure of CGC Wale Bashir Adeniyi by One Year.

President Bolls Ahmed Tinubu has extended the tenure of NCS Comptroller Wale Bashir Adeniyi (MFR) by one year. According to the Presidency, the extension became necessary to enable him; “consolidate ongoing reforms and complete critical initiatives of this administration”, President Bola Tinubu on Thursday July 31, 2025 extended the tenure of the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi by one year following his outstanding performance. A statement made available to the media by the Presidency revealed that the extension of Adeniyi’s tenure, which is due to expire today July 31, 2025, was to enable him drive the critical reforms in the agency including the modernisation of the Service, implementation of the National Single Window Project, execution of Nigeria’s obligations under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) protocol and most importantly, the stabilization of the B’Odogwu platform of the Service. The statement signed by Bayo Onanuga also disclosed that “President Tinubu recognises Mr. Adeniyi’s steadfast leadership and commitment to service.“The President is confident that this extension will further strengthen the Nigeria Customs Service in achieving its strategic mandate of trade facilitation, revenue generation, and border security.”
