Mimi Azikiwe Defeat Justina Azuka to win in Onitsha By -Election

Mimi Azikiwe candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has emerged as the winner in Onitsha North Constituency 1 By-election. She defeated ADC’s Justina Azuka , PDP, APC to emerge victorious in the recently concluded Onitsha North Constituency 1 by-election. Azikiwe won by a landslide, polling a total of 7,774 votes. She defeated Justina Azuka of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), who is the widow of the late Justice Azuka — a former Labour Party lawmaker tragically abducted and killed in 2024. The vacant seat was a result of his untimely death. Professor Ebien, the returning officer, officially declared Azikiwe the winner at the end of the collation process. Mimi Azikwe, maintained a commanding lead throughout the counting.The All Progressives Congress (APC) trailed in third place with 1,371 votes, while other parties recorded comparatively lower figures. Observers lauded the peaceful conduct of the by-election and Azikiwe’s decisive win as they described it as a reflection of APGA’s strong grassroots presence in the region.
