Comptroller Micheal Toyin Awe could not have asked for more auspicious time to take a bow out of a 36 years old career marked by outstanding performance, excellence and professionalism. The former Comptroller of Muritala Mohammed Airport Command in an emotional laden farewell remarks handed over the reign of Leadership at the gateway to the Nations economic capital to Comptroller Godwin Otunla as the new Customs Area Controller of the Murtala Muhammed Airport Command on Thursday November 27, 2025 at the commands office in Ikeja, Lagos. Comptroller Godwin Otunla speaking during his inaugural address described Comptroller Micheal Toyin Awe as an excellent officer with high standards of discipline who is retiring after a distinguished 36 years service to Nigeria Custom Service and Nigeria’s government in general. He pointed out that the Comptroller has etched his name in the annals of a new and vision driven Nigeria Customs Service and has left a landmark for MMAC “I am committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and service delivery he left behind” The new CAC pointed out that Muritala Mohammed Airport Command under his leadership will vigorously deploy proactive and high margin agendas that will enhance Trade Facilitation by Streamlining cargo clearance and enhancing efficiency. Speaking on revenue, he disclosed that his leadership will run an open door and all inclusive policy aimed at Safeguarding government revenue with renewed vigor. Comptr. Godwin Otunla promised to intensify the Anti-Corruption mantra and uphold Zero tolerance for corruption and compromise he further highlighted the relevance of building a win- win Collaboration that will help in Strengthening partnerships with sister agencies and stakeholders. The CAC implored officers of the command to eschew all forms of indiscipline, rededicate themselves and abide by the extent status of NCS, while reaffirming that MMAC will continue to engage with stakeholders to deliver excellence. At all times: “Together, we shall raise the bar of performance and institutional integrity,”.Speaking during his valedictory remarks Comptr. MIcheal Awe, went down memory lane to where the meritorious career that spanned 36 years started, he highlighted MMAC milestone achievements in revenue generation, security, and trade facilitation. According to him;“I am proud of what we have accomplished together,” and expressed confidence that the command will achieve greater heights and milestone under the new leadership. Comptr Micheal Awe expressed his appreciation to President Bola Ahmed TInubu (CFR) and the dynamic and visionary leadership of the CGC Adewale Bashir Adeniyi (MFR)The high point of the event was the official handicap over of the flag to the new Comptroller under the watch of senior officers , stakeholders, and Colleagues Deputy Comptroller. P.L Adoye in his commendations described Comptroller Micheal Awe as an astute officer with very high morale principles and professionalism . He prayed and wished the Comptroller success in his future endeavors. Other stakeholders also commented M. T Awe for his outstanding and excellent leadership.l
