2027: Nwobodo Declares Support For Peter Obi.

Former Anambra State governor and elder statesman Chief Jim Ifeanyichukwu Nwobodo has thrown his weight behind the Presidential ambition of the former Labour Party (LP) candidate in the 2023 elections, Mr. Peter Gregory Obi. Chief Nwobodo who governed the old Anambra State from 1979 to 1983 before he was succeeded by the late Chief Christian Onoh, father of Bianca Onoh Ojukwu declared his support during a courtesy visit to him at his country home in Amichi by Peter Obi and his associates on Monday January 6, 2025.

The former governor described Peter Obi as the most credible candidate and the most respected presidential figure in Nigeria today, and called for support for Obi ahead of the the 2027 elections. Nwobodo also used the opportunity to question what he referred to as the continued exclusion of Ndigbo from Nigeria’s presidency for over 50 years, lamenting that the Eastern Region deserved a fair and equal opportunity at the highest level of the nation’s leadership, the presidency.

On his part Mr. Obi stated that the visit was to felicitate with Chief Nwobodo and seek his prayers as an elder statesman. He further revealed that discussions concerning 2027 elections as well as the African Democratic, Congress (ADC) would come at a later time, “we came to wish him well and seek his prayers. we will return to discuss politics and the way forward” Obi stated.
