The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Lagos Free Trade Zone (LFTZ) Command announced the command’s best half-year performance to date. With the generation of ₦408.87 billion from January to June 2026, and. The command also generated its highest monthly collection of ₦87.10 billion in June, 2026.This was discussed by the Customs Area Controller in charge of LFTZ, Comptroller Hauwa Abubakar, during the Command’s 2026 Half-Year Media Briefing on Thursday, 2 July 2026,The Comptr. attributed the historical performance to strengthened compliance, improved operational efficiency and sustained stakeholder engagement. Comtr. Hauwa Abubakar,, said the Command collected ₦408,869,138,497.75 between January and June 2026, an increase of ₦91.55 billion over the ₦317.32 billion generated during the same period in 2025. She further stated that the command made an historic record in June collection of ₦87.10 billion achievements that indicates the highest monthly revenue recorded by the Command since it was inception four years ago.”This unprecedented growth is not accidental. It is the product of deliberate strategies aimed at strengthening compliance, improving operational efficiency and fostering constructive engagement with all stakeholders operating within the Free Trade Zones and Lekki Port,” She said.
Speaking further at the media briefing, the Comptr explained the massive role of sustained stakeholder engagement through dialogue, education and collaboration which encouraged voluntary compliance with extant customs laws and regulations, she also pointed out that creating an enabling environment for legitimate trade. While commenting the professionalism, discipline and dedication of officers of the Command for strengthening the confidence of the trading community and driving the Command’s outstanding performance.The Comptroller expressed her appreciated for the support of sister security and regulatory agencies, licensed customs agents, importers, exporters and investors for their collaboration and growing compliance.”The Lagos Free Trade Zone Command will continue to provide an enabling environment for legitimate trade by promoting trade facilitation in accordance with global best practices, while ensuring strict compliance with all extant laws and regulations. LFTZ Command also used the media briefing to sensitize stakeholders on proper documentation for transire, reiterating the documentation requirements under the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023 to entrench compliance. Stakeholders present welcomed the initiative, commended the leadership style of the Customs Area Controller and pledged their continued support for the Command’s compliance and revenue objectives.
