The Commissioner of Police Imo State Command CP Audu Garba Bosso has reinforced the ban on tinted vehicles, covered number plates, and unauthorised sirens and also introduced Students Safety Mechanism in Owerri and Environs. Speaking with Journalists at the Command Headquarters Owerri, Imo State he disclosed that these acts are clear violation of existing regulations and criminals exploit to use unidentifiable vehicles to perpetrate crimes and evade arrest. He stated that Covered Plates Numbers undermine security operations and impede efforts to trace vehicles linked to kidnapping, robbery, car snatching. Bosso further warned that Violators will have vehicles impounded and face strict enforcement, and he directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers,(DPOs) Traffic Officers to ensure compliance adding that ban on motorcycles in Owerri metropolis are still in effect “No unmarked vehicles by tactical teams, no shuttle buses for patrols, no over-detention of suspects should be allowed in Imo State Police Command. Commenting on Student safety measures he said that Police have engaged Schools inaugurated Students’ Anti-Corruption Clubs in Schools to promote integrity and vigilance. Stressing that the Command have committed to intelligence-led policing” to ensure criminal elements have no safe haven in Schools across the state.He urged public to support policing with timely and credible information and warned against phone searching, extortion, and rights violation”For our students, we have intensified patrols around schools and campuses, In the State and we urge Parents, Students to report suspicious vehicles or persons immediately. Our Command has zero tolerance for extortion or harassment, we are engaged in professionalism”
