The new Acting Area Controller in charge Post Clearance Audit Unit, Zone A, Deputy Comptroller of Customs, Aishat Yinusa has expressed her readiness to maximise the audit capability of officers and men under her leadership for effective revenue collection and identification of potential non-compliance. She made the remark during the official handover of leadership mantle of the Unit from Acting Assistant Comptroller-General, Florence Nmadu to her on Monday, 2 November 2026 at Marina Lagos as part of the Service strategic posting of senior officers. Commending the outstanding performance of her predecessor, DC Yinusa stated that her administration will prioritise promoting continuous learning, mentoring and capacity development to equip officers for the evolving demands of modern customs auditing. “Under my predecessor, PCA Zone A recorded revenue recoveries of ₦15,849,187,676.00 in the year 2025 and a further ₦4,494,257,017.22 was recovered through PCA interventions in the third quarter of 2026. These achievements reflect the collective efforts and commitment of officers across the Zone. And we shall build on this foundation, consolidate the gains and strive for even greater results” she said. Yinusa explained that her objective remains achieving greater audit effectiveness without compromising expected trade facilitation mandate. She said the Unit will continue to rely on intelligence, data, risk indicators and information sharing input to guide audit decisions rather than adopt an indiscriminate approach to interventions. Earlier, the outgoing Area Controller now Acting Assistant Comptroller-General Florence Nmadu ably represented by the Staff Officer General, Assistant Comptroller of Customs, Yusuf Bello commended officers and men of the Unit for contributing immensely to achievements recorded during her tenure. “I confidently that the incoming Acting Controller will build upon the existing achievement, address the identified challenges, and introduce appropriate measures to further improve the revenue generation, audit effectiveness, staff productivity, and overall operational performance” he said.
