The chairman of Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) PLC, Dr Taiwo Afolabi says, ground handlings in the aviation industry is an essential component of the value chain that supports safe, secure, and efficient air transport. This is just as Afolabi said the company remained committed to embracing innovation, adopting global best practices, investing in modern equipment, and developing a highly skilled workforce capable of meeting the evolving demands of the aviation industry.Dr Afolabi, represented by the managing director of SAHCO Mrs Adenike Aboderin at the international conference of Aeronautical Engineers with the theme ‘Aeronautical Engineering and National Development: Repositioning the Nigerian aviation industry’ said the conference provided an excellent platform for knowledge exchange, strategic partnerships, technological advancement, and policy dialogue. According to Dr Afolabi, It is through collaboration among government institutions, academia, industry stakeholders, development partners, and the private sector that can collectively reposition Nigeria’s aviation industry as a catalyst for national development and regional leadership.
He described aeronautical engineering as one of the critical drivers of aviation excellence which underpinned aircraft safety, operational efficiency, technological innovation, and the development of local technical expertise. “As Nigeria continues to strengthen its aviation ecosystem, investment in engineering capacity, research, infrastructure, and human capital will be indispensable to achieving world-class standards and unlocking new opportunities across the industry”.He said theme, “Aeronautical Engineering and National Development: Repositioning the Nigerian Aviation Industry,” is both timely and significant. It reflects our collective aspiration to build a resilient, innovative, and globally competitive aviation sector that contributes meaningfully to Nigeria’s economic growth and sustainable development. Dr Afolabi commended the organisers for bringing together experts and stakeholders from across the globe to share ideas and solutions that will shape the future of aviation.
