JEDLOF FOUNDATION EMPOWERS WIDOWS, SMALL BUSINESSES WITH GRANTS, FINANCIAL LITERACY

The Jedlof Foundation has reaffirmed its commitment to empowering widows and small business owners through financial support, business training, and educational assistance, with beneficiaries sharing inspiring testimonies of transformed lives during the foundation’s business empowerment outreach held on July 25, 2026.Speaking at the event, the Founder of the Jedlof Foundation, Dr. Mrs. Ebele Okoye, said the organization has remained committed to improving the lives of widows, vulnerable families, and children through business empowerment, payment of school fees, food support, and other humanitarian interventions since 2022.According to her, the foundation’s latest outreach focused on equipping members with practical business management skills, financial literacy, health education, and biblical principles for sustainable entrepreneurship.Dr. Okoye encouraged participants to always put God first in their businesses, maintain honesty and integrity, work diligently, keep their shops organized, manage finances wisely, provide excellent customer service, and continuously seek knowledge and wise counsel.Quoting several Bible passages, she emphasized that integrity, hard work, careful planning, and excellent service remain essential ingredients for business success and long-term prosperity.
She also urged beneficiaries to separate business capital from personal spending, cultivate a savings culture, avoid unnecessary debt, and plan for future business expansion.The event featured testimonies from several widows who narrated how grants received from the foundation helped them establish or expand small businesses.One beneficiary said she started selling pastries and children’s drinks after receiving support from the foundation. Through consistent savings and reinvestment of profits, she was able to purchase a refrigerator and later a deep freezer, while also paying her children’s school fees and meeting household expenses.Another widow explained that a grant enabled her to stock her neighborhood provision shop with biscuits, sweets, and other household items. She attributed her business growth to opening her shop early every morning, maintaining discipline, and saving part of her daily income.A third beneficiary revealed that after receiving food items and a ₦150,000 business grant from the Jedlof Foundation, she invested in a wig business by purchasing hair products and display equipment.
She said the business has continued to grow, enabling her to support her family. Over N5M was was spent in the empowermentAnother participant disclosed that she used an initial ₦30,000 grant to reopen her provision store and later reinvested additional grants into the business. She said the steady growth of the enterprise has enabled her to pay outstanding debts, settle her rent, and improve her family’s welfare.The beneficiaries unanimously described the foundation’s intervention as life-changing, noting that the financial assistance, mentorship, and encouragement gave them renewed hope and confidence.Dr. Okoye also appreciated members of the planning committee, prayer team, ministers, volunteers, media personnel, decorators, and other partners for their dedication to the foundation’s humanitarian work.She encouraged widows to regularly attend the foundation’s bi-weekly fellowship meetings for spiritual growth, mentorship, and continued learning.The founder concluded by praying for divine wisdom, financial increase, faithful customers, and lasting prosperity for all beneficiaries, expressing confidence that the foundation would continue touching more lives through its empowerment initiatives.
