Nigeria Custom Service (NCS) Lagos Free Trade Zone has generated an increased revenue of over N 253bn without the first quarter of 2926.The Zonal Coordinator in charge of Zone ‘A’, Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs, Mohammed Babandede commended the Lagos Free Trade Zone (LFTZ) for the increased revenue generation..ACG Babadende disclosed this during official working visit to the Command on Wednesday, 13 May 2026, The ACG Babandede commended officers and men of the Command for their dedication and urged them to maintain integrity, professionalism, and honesty in the discharge of their duties.”Please maintain your integrity on behalf of the CGC. We are proud of the achievement you have recorded and we know you are equal to the task”He reassured officers that the leadership of Nigeria Custom Service under Comptroller-General , Adewale Adeniyi, remained committed to improving staff welfare through better accommodation and adequate healthcare provisions.
“The CGC is passionate about your welfare. We are making sure that all officers that are posted to this zone are well accommodated. And also hospitals will be available very soon for those of you that are taking over so that at least each officer, including the retired officers, can access healthcare facility”. Customs Area Controller in charge of of the Command, Comptroller Hauwa Abubakar in her remarks pointed out that the visit was a major source of motivation to officers and men of the Command.The Comptr. said the LFTZ Command generated ₦253,385,539,061.88 between January and April 2026, an improved revenue general of ₦179,869,059,647.00 recorded within the same period in 2025. “This indicates a significant revenue increase of ₦73,516,479,414.88k which represents a 40.87% increase. Beyond revenue generation.She further reassured that LFTZ Command remains committed to promoting trade facilitation while ensuring strict regulatory compliance in line with extant government fiscal policies and the vision of the CGC.”
The high point of the visit, the also witnessed ACG Mohammed Babadende’s toure of the Lekki Deep Sea Port and the Lagos Free Trade Zones Headquarters, where he met with stakeholders and operators within the zone. He also expressed satisfaction with feedback from investors and partners., “I’m so happy, I’m so fulfilled because what we are telling the officers is to always ensure the growth of this zone, ensure that the work diligently with the operators. And they’re happy with what the customs is doing”, .
