The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has commenced that it is ready for its 2026 Basic Course Programme with an induction workshop for resource persons and instructors at the Customs Training College.The sessions which held on Wednesday, 30 September 2026, is aimed at preparing trainers for the upcoming recruitment training and ensuring that prospective Customs officers receive effective and comprehensive training.In his address at the opening ceremony, ACG Frank Onyeka, in charge of the Human Resource Development Unit, stressed the importance of teamwork and collaboration among the resource persons.“We’re going to work as a team. Nobody has monopoly of knowledge, that’s why we have brought people. We’re going to do this for the good of the service, because we need to bring out the best of Customs officers that we’re going to be proud of,” he said.
He stressed that the service is determined to raise officers who will uphold professionalism, discipline and integrity in line with the reform agenda of the Comptroller-General of Customs. Also speaking, the Retreat Coordinator, DCG Greg Itotoh (Rtd), said preparations for the 2026 Basic Course Programme had reached an advanced stage. “So, as we speak, we have training materials in about 19 subject areas and information that will be required to run the 2026 Basic Course programme. And I think we are all together prepared to face the task ahead of us,” Itotoh added.Earlier in her welcome address, the Commandant of the Customs Training College, Ikeja, Deputy Comptroller Precious Itah, described the retreat as the first of its kind. She said the workshop was important in setting the tone for the training programme and urged the trainers to approach their responsibilities with an open mind.
