Amina Mohammed UN Deputy Secretary-General and Chair of UN Sustainable Development Group with UN delegation including UNDP, UN Women, ILO to launch a women’s economic empowerment programme concluded in Imo Speaking with Stakeholder at Government House, Executive Council Chambers Owerri, Imo State SheCommended Imo for Digital transformation, youth empowerment, economic diversification and public-sector reforms,Strategic investments in education, digital skills, power infrastructure and administrative reforms creating competitive enterprises, productive jobs, and resilient communities Mohammed further stated that With 4 years left to 2030 Agenda, “State-level progress remains critical to translating global goals into accessible healthcare, quality education, and decent livelihoods,need to strengthen energy systems, expand climate finance, build supply chains linking local producers to market adding that Investments in human capital must be matched with social protection and quality healthcare.”The UN recommended Imo’s reforms as available national model for sustainable development, economic diversification, and youth empowerment” In his response Governor Hope Uzodimma Said that his administration deliberately prioritised technology as a catalyst to tackle unemployment, enhance security, and shift the state away from over- reliance on the public sector.He however said that thousands of youths trained and integrated into global tech ecosystem as software developers, cybersecurity analysts, and AI specialists under Imo Digital Economy Agenda; Uzodimma therefore asked for UN partnership and support in clean energy, climate finance, healthcare, and market access for local producers.
