Women Peace and Security (WPS) awareness campaign bordering on Female Gender Insensitive, inclusion of women on the Leadership of Nigeria kick off in Owerri, Imo State. Speaking during the occasion the programme Officer, Community and Youth Development Initiative, and Member Women Peace and Security Monitoring Committee Chief Ugochukwu Anuzie Said that WPS is a Global Policy Agenda about recognizing and Strengthening the role of Women in preventing conflict, building peace and responding to crisis.He said that women naturally are gifted in identifying very small details that can actually displace the formal setting; adding that the aim of this awareness is all about recognizing the role of Women in building Security System and general Inclusion in every day life.
“Women are gifted with getting very little detail that may ordinarily Ignored by most men, so many years we have been IgnoringWoman, now it is high time to bring them to make our Society to be better, for long time we have been moving without women when you are moving with half of the community you are static” Ugochukwu further called on the power that be to include women in post crisis reformation and also need to be protected at all cost.Similarly in her contribution seasoned Gender Right Advocate Practitioner coordinator, Women Peace and Security monitoring and, Heart Land Access to Justice Initiative Owerri, Barr’ Chicheta Success Ude highlighted that WPS is a Global Frame work of every Nation established by the United Nation Security Council 1325 was established in 2000 to acknowledged the enermous role women play as managing conflict and ensure inclusion for women in every segment of the society.
She further stated that quite unlike Imo State House of Assembly there is no single female gender there,”how can men preside on the things that exclusively concern woman, when they talk issues concerning Women who is to preside, women Suppose to be seen and heard, now we are working on the State Action Plan on how women should be involved in decision making In the democratic circle of Nigeria” Ude further maintained that Nigeria has women that are Educated, to be elective and appointed, and should deserved to be in the Leadership position of this country.She called on the National Assembly to pass propose bill for Constitutional Amendment that will creat reserve andadditional seat for women both at the National and State AssembliesIn the same corner Public Affairs Commentator Chief Ken Ijeoma urged the Federal Government to pass the bills on reserve seat for women both in the National and State Assemblies across the Federation.
He opined that naturally Women Evangelists and more resourceful and democrat than men in the National and State Assemblies, Adding that persons like Alhaja Yusuf, Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan, WTO boss Okonji Iwuala and Oby Ezekwesiri amongst others.
